In rural areas, we deploy smart solar mini-grid to commercially viable off-grid rural communities. In urban areas, we help businesses (like factories, large farms etc) reduce the energy cost and provide them with a more reliable energy access through our Commercial & Industrial (C&I) solar offering.
Job Objective:
As an energy access company, Havenhill is committed to accelerating the pace of increasing energy access within rural and urban Nigeria. This requires a lot of interfacing with State and Federal Government authorities and relevant parastatals. As our Government Liaison Associate, you will support our Head of Operations to liaise on Havenhill Synergy’s behalf with various governmental authorities, including but not limited to selected ministries, agencies and authorities at Local, State and Federal government levels where required to facilitate smooth implementation of Havenhill Synergy’s projects, including timely approvals of permits, licenses, agreements etc.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop, liaise, and maintain communication with contacts of various relevant government institutions and authorities. Might be required to act as a key focal point for communication.
- Coordinate and Liaise with various Government bodies like REA, NEMSA, Ministry of Energy, Environment (State and Federal), and regulators across various bodies (federal, state and local government) across multiple states we operate for approval required for our various projects.
- Participate in any relevant meetings and conferences organized by authorities.
- Develop methodologies to improve the liaison process including best practices and proffer solutions where necessary.
- Identify and share new policies and procedures to create awareness of requirements among team members.
- Prepare and share regular progress reports with internal stakeholders.
- Perform other tasks assigned.
Requirements:
- Degree in law, public administration, humanities, social sciences or social work
- At least 5 years of experience in relevant areas. Experience of working with the government at a senior level will be considered as an advantage.
- Extensive knowledge of the Nigerian system of government and administration;
- Self-driven, independent and motivated.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure.
- Diplomatic nature, excellent negotiation skills plus negotiation experience;
- Zeal to work in a renewable energy environment is a must.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant software.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal). This role involves a lot of communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel at least 60% of the time to different governorates as required.
