We use solar energy to generate clean, safe, cost-effective and sustainable electricity to the underserved and unserved population in Nigeria. In rural areas, we deploy smart solar mini-grid to commercially viable off-grid rural communities. In urban areas, we help businesses (like factories, large farms, etc) reduce their energy cost and provide them with reliable energy access through our Commercial & Industrial (C&I) solar offering. The greenhouse project is designed to utilize renewable energy from our mini-grid to support various aspects of crop production and operational activities within the greenhouse units. 

This role involves supporting the management of greenhouse operations, focusing on various aspects such as planting, cultivation, and pest control. 

Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of greenhouse activities, including planting, cultivation, nutrient management, pest control, and harvesting.
• Utilize soilless hydroponic cultivation methods to optimize water and nutrient usage, and maximize crop yields.
• Supervise the real-time monitoring systems, ensuring proper temperature, humidity, and other crucial environmental factors are maintained for optimal plant health and growth.
• Oversee the drip irrigation systems, ensuring proper delivery of water and nutrients to plant roots, minimizing wastage, and maximizing water use efficiency.
• Manage the cold-room storage facility, ensuring proper preservation of harvested produce to maintain freshness and nutritional value.
• Stay updated on the latest agronomic trends, conduct research, and implement innovative techniques to continuously improve crop production and quality.
• Manage and train greenhouse staff, providing guidance on best practices, safety protocols, and ensuring efficient teamwork.
• Assist in budget planning, resource allocation, and procurement of necessary materials for greenhouse operations.
• Ensure meticulous upkeep of comprehensive farm records, including planting schedules, crop performance data, maintenance logs, and inventory records.
• Provide periodic reports to management for evaluation and decision-making.
• Any other duties assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field.
• Proven experience in greenhouse management, hydroponics, and crop production techniques, with a minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a similar role.
• In-depth knowledge of advanced greenhouse technologies, soilless cultivation methods, and precision agriculture practices.
• Ability to adapt to changing conditions and implement innovative approaches to improve crop yields and quality.
• Understanding of budgeting and resource management for greenhouse operations.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills to manage a team effectively.
• Proficiency in the use of basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office suite.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
• A willingness to commit to living in a remote location and communicate in local language (Hausa and Yoruba)
