Job Summary

We are seeking a creative and proactive Communications Associate to support our communications efforts across projects, platforms, and audiences. You will be responsible for crafting compelling stories, developing digital and offline content, driving social media engagement, and amplifying our brand narrative as we scale our renewable energy initiatives across Africa.

Key Responsibilities

• Content Creation & Storytelling:
  • Create engaging content (text, images, graphics, videos) for use across social media, newsletters, blogs, press releases, and other channels.
  • Develop compelling human-interest stories that highlight our impact on rural communities, mini-grid beneficiaries, and smallholder farmers.
  • Collaborate with project teams to document success stories from our electrification efforts.
• Social Media & Digital Engagement:
  • Manage day-to-day operations of all social media channels (Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok).
  • Grow our online presence and audience engagement through creative campaigns and community interaction.
  • Develop content calendars and schedule posts using tools like Buffer and similar tools.
• Monitoring & Reporting:
  • Track key metrics and analytics (e.g., Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite) to assess campaign performance and user engagement.
  • Prepare monthly reports with insights and recommendations.
• Internal and External Communications:
  • Write and edit newsletters, brochures, proposals, media kits, and other communications materials.
  • Support media outreach, press relations, and partnership communications.
• Knowledge & Content Management:
  • Maintain a content repository (photos, videos, infographics, success stories).
  • Support the organisation of communication data, resources, and documentation.
• Trend Analysis & Innovation:
  • Stay up to date with emerging trends in digital marketing, social impact storytelling, renewable energy, and agriculture.
  • Propose innovative content strategies aligned with our mission.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Media Studies, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field. Applicants with other academic qualifications are welcome to apply, provided they can demonstrate strong professional experience and proven competence in communications, digital media, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in a communications, media, or digital marketing role (preferably in development, clean energy, or agriculture).
• Proven ability to write compelling, clean, and accurate copy for diverse audiences.
• Strong experience with digital tools: WordPress, Canva, Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets), Buffer, Google Analytics, and social platforms.
• Excellent attention to detail, grammar, and visual consistency.
• Comfortable working independently in a dynamic and impact-driven team.
• Working knowledge of photography and videography is a plus.
• Knowledge or passion for renewable energy, climate change, or rural development is a strong advantage.
