The Farm Fuse Initiative, launched by Havenhill Synergy in 2021, is not just about statistics or figures, it’s about the impact it’s making on the lives of smallholder farmers in rural communities across Nigeria. Through this initiative, Havenhill is uplifting smallholder farmers by addressing the core challenges within the agricultural value chain. The human angle of this initiative comes to life through the stories of individuals like Mr Emmanuel, whose life has been profoundly impacted.
‘Farm Fuse has motivated farmers’ – Mr Emmanuel
Before the implementation of this initiative, Mr Emmanuel, a farmer in a community in Oyo state, Nigeria was only able to cultivate 1 hectare of maize. However, with the Farm Fuse initiative, he shared in a recent interview that he cultivated four hectares of maize. “The initiative has played a vital role in motivating young educated farmers like myself in the community to engage in agriculture” he said.
With the support of Farm Fuse, Mr Emmanuel and others like him have been empowered with the inputs and resources needed to practice productive farming. From access to tractors for land preparation to quality seeds and herbicides and even access to markets, the initiative has been a motivation for him.
At its core, Farm Fuse is committed to reducing food insecurity by revamping the local agriculture value chains and empowering smallholder farmers who are the backbone of Nigeria’s agricultural sector. This necessitates a holistic approach that includes the accessibility of essential farming resources, including mechanization, access to quality inputs, access to markets and education on best practices
Through Farm Fuse, Havenhill Synergy is not only improving energy access in rural Nigeria but also establishing sustainable agricultural value chains that empower individuals and uplift communities.
