We are delighted to announce that our team claimed the Best Track Award (2A) at the just concluded Africa Regional Round of the Empower a Billion Lives competition in Johannesburg, South Africa – a global competition hosted by IEEE to develop scalable solutions to energy poverty.
The online round of competition started in May 2018 with hundreds of teams across the world applying to showcase their solutions to end energy poverty. Shortlisted teams were then invited to participate in the Regional Rounds holding across 5 locations. Havenhill Synergy emerged the winner of Track 2A (Commercially Available Solutions Using Centralized Utility Models). We will now join the winners from other regions at the finals of the competition hosted in Baltimore, USA in September 2019.
This is for the 90 million Nigerians who currently live in off-grid rural communities. This recognition means more responsibility for us in accelerating the pace of increasing energy access to those communities. We will continue to innovate and develop more sustainable ways of ending energy poverty.
We look forward to showcasing our model (field test results etc) at the finals in Baltimore come September.
